THE GARDEN OF EUROPE

More than 40 km of pathways in a botanic paradise

One of the sides of the imaginary triangle in which we are spotted is Mount Baldo. This region extends on the eastern side of Lake Garda and it is the ideal place for excursions with family, friends, or for mountain bike rides.

It is also worldwide well known by the botanists under the name of “Hortus Europae” (Garden of Europe). It represents the ideal ecosystem for an exceptionally high diversity of plants and animals. Some plant species can be found only here, which is why they have the name “Baldense” (for example the Anemone baldensis). The climate is strongly influenced by Lake Garda, which provides for an exceptional Mediterranean ambience with olive groves, holm oaks, laurel plants and cypresses.

In addition, the variety of the flora is also due to the fact that the top of Monte Baldo had been excluded from the last ice age, which ended about 10,000 years ago and thus some preglacial species could survive by adapting to the new environmental conditions.
